In July of 2017, I attended my best blogging conference yet: Haven!
Haven brings together several hundred DIY, home, and design bloggers to a place immersed with several of the top brands and experts in home improvement. Not only did I learn the best ways to connect with the brands that mean the most to me, but I also learned many ways that I could improve my blog and the business of blogging in general.
But way before the conference even started, just after I purchased my ticket, I was introduced to the Haven atmosphere by way of its Facebook group. I quickly discovered that this is a warm group of like-minded folks who truly want to help each other get ahead in this business. It was also clear that this friendly, approachable undertone was being led by the Haven team leaders themselves, who did everything they could to assist and help attendees.
Because of my experience in the Facebook group, I went in to Haven with a positive outlook and was not disappointed.
My Arrival At Haven Conference 2017
The stunning Grand Hyatt Buckhead luxury hotel in Atlanta served as the venue, and I enjoyed every bit of it! This gorgeous facility provided a great backdrop for a conference full of design industry leaders. Attendees were welcomed by a lively party hosted by Delta Faucet, which was also attended by well-known personalities like HGTV’s Brian Patrick Flynn. It was the perfect start to the weekend!
Both days of the conference was packed full of instruction, opportunities to interact with top brands like The Home Depot and Dremel, and most of all, it was packed with fun! Everyone really seemed to enjoy themselves in what was a very relaxed atmosphere. I’ve seen conferences where attendees were rushing from one place to another, not caring about who they might run over in order to make a panel on time.
I’ve also seen long lines at brand booths where you literally only have about a minute to talk to a brand rep before you’re interrupted by another attendee looking to stake their claim. And even if you were successful in chatting and exchanging business cards, many times follow-up emails go unanswered.
Not so at Haven. I felt like I had all the time I wanted to talk to the brands and for the most part, they were able to get a feel for me as a person. Every single follow-up email I sent was answered with a friendly response, and in some instances, has resulted in a business partnership. Thanks to Haven, I have developed a brand ambassadorship with Wagner, and have continuing relationships with awesome brands like DecoArt, Gorilla Glue, and Ryobi.
Speaking of my favorite tool company Ryobi, they had such a great presence at Haven Conference 2017, as you can see in my photos below:
Because the sponsors and brands are generous in addition to being awesome, there are plenty of opportunities to win prizes such as tools and other items, in addition to receiving an attendee swag bag full of cool items! I was so thankful to receive a few prizes, including a $500 Ryobi outdoor tools sweepstakes, and an electronic keypad door lock/handle combo from Schlage.
Seriously, I’m glad I drove to Atlanta because I don’t know how I would have gotten home with all of that swag!
Haven Conference 2017 In A Nutshell
Haven was the best experience yet in my growing career of blogging! Anyone who is a DIY/home blogger and designer should attend Haven. It has produced tons of successful bloggers and provides real value to everyone who attends. It will take a mountain for me to be unable to attend any future Haven conferences!
Thank You to Haven, its sponsors, and fellow attendees for such a wonderful experience.
We’ve got more blogging conference experiences for you!
