As a teen, I was introduced to Star Fox back in the mid-90s. Even though I didn’t know anything about the Super Nintendo game, the cover art was compelling, so I purchased it from a Toys-R-Us. Starfox ultimately became one of my favorites because it was easy to learn, had awesome graphics at the time, and was a satisfying challenge.
It was a given that I would buy Star Fox 64 when it was released on the Nintendo 64! Once again, I enjoyed everything about it: The characters, the story, superb graphics, and the fun challenges throughout. Not to mention the introduction of the Rumble Pack allowed me to interact with a video game like never before.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Fast-forward to today: I now have four kids of my own, and video game technology has made leaps and bounds since my days of playing the Super Nintendo on my 13″ tube TV. We are all die-hard Nintendo fans, and of course we own the Nintendo Switch.
The latest game we’re playing is Starlink: Battle For Atlas and the Starter Pack featuring Star Fox, (Nintendo Switch exclusive) which inserts into the game the iconic characters from the Star Fox team and an exclusive mission.
Starlink: Battle For Atlas Interactive Experience
In Starlink: Battle for Atlas, you are part of a group of heroic interstellar pilots, dedicated to free the Atlas Star System from Grax and the Forgotten Legion, an evil robot force. This is a new action-adventure game where you assemble a custom starship mounted to your game controller, which is way cooler than the old Nintendo 64 Rumble Pack!
Each modular component and pilot attached to the starship appears instantly in the game, which allows players to directly affect the course of their gameplay.
You can see my son assemble his starships in my video below.
My kids have quickly discovered that their favorite part of the game is switching out the various pieces of their starships and how the changes happen in real time in the game. This allows for an incredible interactive experience that even my 5-year-old mastered.
This opens up a whole new world of creativity and unique play styles. You can experiment with different pilot abilities, weapons types, and status effects. Discover and unleash devastating combos upon your enemies and overcome deadly challenges.
Just like my experience with Star Fox as a teenager, Starlink: Battle For Atlas has also been a fun game to play.
Starlink: Battle For Atlas: Action Adventure Fun
You can travel seamlessly through hostile space to the exotic alien worlds of the Atlas Star System. Each one of its planets has its own identity, ecosystem and wildlife. The worlds evolve depending on your actions and your choices.
Everything you do has an impact on your journey, and enemies will react and fight back intelligently and take over the star system if you do nothing to stop them.
My kids have been thoroughly engrossed in the story and gameplay, and as a gaming father, it’s been fun to watch them experience Starlink: Battle For Atlas!
